our babies turned four years old!! and we partied and celebrated!!
ian and i were actually out of town for most of the day on october 13, 2024 – we were in jackson with all my siblings on a trip for my dad’s 80th birthday. we left that awesome gathering a few days early to get back home to be with our twins for the evening of their fourth birthday.
a few days before we left for jackson, we hosted august and eve’s very first friend birthday party in our back yard! they were both so excited to invite pals from preschool and the neighbourhood (and cousins too, of course!). they got to pick out some sweet balloons and help me set everything up and then they had a blast with their friends! we had all their favourite foods, a couple craft stations – beads and stickers, and swing / trampoline / treehouse play, and a bowling game set up on the deck (their birthday tradition is bowling … and i wasn’t about to take twenty four-year-olds to the bowling alley, haha!)! at the end of the party we played a few rounds of pass the parcel (this classic british party game makes an appearance at every one of our british children’s birthday parties!) and sang happy birthday and had cupcakes. it was such a fun afternoon!!

when we got home from jackson on the evening of the twins’ day, we were soooo excited to see our babies! we got right to a family birthday party with balloons (grateful they hadn’t deflated or popped!), ice cream cakes (i had them made ahead of time and kept them in the freezer at home!), and presents. it was such a happy night.

the next day we had the cousins over after school to help us eat more of the cake, and then we met daddy after work at the bowling alley! the kids had such a blast bowling (there was a lot of enthusiasm after knocking down some pins!) and it was the perfect cherry-on-the-top birthday celebration.

ooooooh we love our august and eve! four whole years with twins!!
I’m so glad that August & Eve had a great birthday & party.
I hadn’t realise that pass the parcel is mainly a British game at children’s parties. I love that you’re keeping this tradition going.
