at the very end of our hawaii trip, we got to spend two nights at an awesome resort (using credit card points). it was the perfect cherry on top to an amazing two-and-a-half week trip.

the kids were soooo excited when we first arrived at the resort on black rock beach in kaanapali. they had heard there was a waterslide and they weren’t disappointed at all when it turned out to be super duper tiny, haha – they were just thrilled! we got right to some pool play and then went down to the beach for as day turned to night. the sunset was outrageously beautiful!! the kids loved playing in the waves and sand under the yellow/pink/orange/red sky and the big boys made a friend and body surfed with him gleefully. such a great night.

the next day we went back and forth between the beach and the pools all day long and everyone had a blast. this beach was the perfect fit for our family – soft sand, perfectly-sized waves, fun to get past the surf and just float/swim, some great snorkeling, turtles that come over and say hi over and over, a rock to swim out to and jump off of, pretty views to the island of lanai … just perfect! moses and i swam out to, climbed up and jumped off of black rock in the morning and then gabriel and ian went out in the afternoon (they decided together the best way to get gabe back in the water was for ian to throw him!). we played and played and played and it was so great!

that evening, ian went with some of the kids to pick up pizza for desert and we got to enjoy eating it through another pretty sunset.

after the kids were in bed i went for a solo swim in the ocean in the dark under the stars and it was magical! the next morning i got to take eve to the breakfast buffet which was such a treat.

and then we had another morning into afternoon to play before we needed to head back to jonah and aja’s to spend one more night before catching our flight home the next morning. august loved the different maintenance vehicles around the resort and eve was so happy to get in a few more times down the tiny slide. the big boys were so excited about smoothies with our lunch; we saw more turtles; jonah and ezra come over to hang out with us and mo and ezra jumped off black rock over and over together. after one last dip in the hot tub we headed back to jonah and aja’s, and then the next morning said goodbye and mahalo to hawaii.

it was a long trip and we were ready to go home by the end, but woah we had such a great time!
