tokyo disney + harry potter!

while we were in tokyo, we spent one day at disneysea, one day at disneyland, and one day at harry potter studios! at first when we considered going to these places i was like, “no way! not in japan!!” (so many other amazing, cultural, beautiful things to do!) but the admission prices were crazy low (especially with the super favorable exchange rate that summer) and we realized it would probably be good to mix things up a little on our long trip – so we went for it!

we squished onto the crowded tokyo subway to make our way out to disneysea. we tried to get there early, but we were clearly not the first ones there (check out the photo of the lines)! we had such a fun day exploring and riding and enjoying – it was perfect that the twins were just tall enough to go on all the rides! it was a full, fun day – and neat to experience disneysea!

the next day was disneyland and everyone had such a blast! fun to see the things that are the same and the things that are different from the disneylands we’ve been to – in california and paris. we found a great spot to watch the parade, evie was thrilled to go inside cinderella’s castle, small world in japanese is so fun!, and the teacups will always by my favourite, even if they make me really sick!

ian took the twins back to our hotel and the boys and i got to stay late. we were staying for the fireworks but because of a little rain, the fireworks show got cancelled! 🙁 still so fun to see the electrical parade and the castle all lit up.

the next day we went to harry potter studios! ian and i had been to the one in london, but now we had two big time harry potter fans in our two oldest sons so we decided we better take them in tokyo! we journeyed over to the part of the city where the studios are and then had fun exploring. there was some stress about spoilers (moses hasn’t yet finished all the books and gabriel has only read the first two!) but i those were mostly avoided! we had butterbeer and later had lunch in the great hall, and we also spent a lot of time in the gift shop.

we found a playground to go to after we were finished at the studios, and we happened upon the most sensational hydrangeas on our walk there! the kids made friends with a little japanese boy with a bubble gun at the playground.
