it’s always good to be home in provo for the fourth of july! this year we had an epic adventure and a lot of jet lag to recover from before the holiday. we took it easy unpacking for a few days, and ian took the boys on a little excursion to lodgepole campground where he went as a kid with his grandpa. just like in previous summers, they found the grape soda that ian and his brothers buried with their grandpa about 35 years ago!

then came the fourth of july!! in the morning we went to a neighbourhood breakfast that our friends put on and it was so fun.

then on to picking out fireworks, and making my traditional flag cake! we went up the canyon to south fork park to play for a little while in the middle of the day – there were some epic frisbee catches!

then on to ian’s grandma’s house for the annual “grand avenue of fire” with ian’s allred side extended family. we all love this event every year. so fun to have creamies and watch uncle brent set off fireworks in the street and do sparklers at the end! moses and gabriel were especially excited this year that we brought some big aerial fireworks!

we rushed from grandma’s to ian’s office to watch the stadium of fire fireworks from his big window that has a perfect view! we met some friends there and ooohed and aahhhed and had a great time.

after the fourth it was time to get ready for moses’s birthday and then to go to bear lake for a few weeks. we had a few days to work on pokemon lite brite creations, play in swimsuits in the backyard, and work on summer goals.

one day we went up to sundance to ride the lift up, take in the views, and hike down. it’s so fun to be back at our winter happy place in the summer! (especially for auggie when there’s some construction vehicles to see!)

we were pretty well adjusted to life after our five weeks in japan by the time moses’s birthday rolled around … then on to bear lake time 🙂
